Speedruns can be done in a variety of ways, such as 100% completion, tool-assisted (where a program controls the on-screen action to play in ways a human probably couldn't) or "any percentage" completion.

Currently, the summer version of the Games Done Quick charity event is underway, with well-known speedrunners cruising through games at unbelievable rates in the name of charity. Where normally he would saunter into the castle, the animation was skipped and the next level started. After bouncing off the enemy near the end of the level, Mario hit the flagpole at its base, which cased a minor glitch that canceled Mario's animation.

This is everything I have ever wanted to accomplish in this. The record-breaking run was made possible by an exploit, where a well-timed jump off a Bullet Bill allowed Blubbler to save precious seconds. Very proud of everything that has led up to this run.
